Why NNPP Suspended Kwakwanso,Others

Facts have emerged why the former presidential flag bearer of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP),in the last election , Senator Rabiu Kwanlwaso was suspended for six months ,by the Board of Trustees of the party.
Addressing newsmen on Tuesday, shortly after the party’s General Assembly Meeting,held at Rock View Hotel ,Apapa,Lagos where the decision to suspend the former presidential flag bearer of the party was taken ,the newly elected National Public Relations Officer of the party Alhaji Abdulrasaq Abdulsalam stated that anti- party activity within the party , tampering with the constitution of the party and conducts inimical to the growth of the party were sufficient reason why the Senator Kwankwaso was suspended.
” We are talking about issues that pertain to the life of the party .Our constitution has been tampered by some cliques and individuals,and on discovering this, the party has decided to take appropriate actions against these people that are masterminding the issues we are having in the party.” he said.
Abdulrasaq added that ,” We have seen individuals engaged in anti- party within the party and we are henceforth telling Nigerians that this is a rebirth of the NNPP.It is not the era of people trying to masquerade themselves as democrats ,but in the actual sense they are not democrats”.
He said haven removed issues that stand as stumbling block for the party ,the party is focused and ,”We are moving towards taking over power come 2027″ .
On the issues that could arise from suspended members , the national publicity secretary-,said,”We have followed due process,and if you feel aggrieved and not comfortable with what we have done,you can go to court to seek redress”.
On his part,High Chief Christopher Obioha,the acting Deputy Chairman of the party noted that the party’s Board of Trustees has been there before memorandum of Understanding MoU was agreed with the Kwanlwaso group.He however said that the MoU has been set aside , because those terms and agreement that were in the MoU have not been followed in the recent events in the party.
According to him,” There is now a cordial relationship between the BOT and the party ,NNPP.
Earlier the Acting National Chairman of the party ,Dr.Golbert Agbo Major announced the sacking of its National Working Committee (NWC) ,for what he described as anti party conducts.
The new National Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Party, Chief Dr. Temitope Aluko said members of the new NWC include Barr Tony Christopher Obioha as Deputy National Chairman, Comrade Ogini Olaposi as National Secretary,Alhaji Abdulrasaq Abdulsalam,National Public Relations Officer. Others are National Woman leader – Hajia Rekia Zanlaga, National VC North Central – Mark Usman, National VC North West –Umar Jibiril, National VC South West – Alhaji Adebanju Wasiu.
The suspension of Kwankwaso and others was ratified by a voice vote by members at the Tuesday meeting.

The former NWC members were accused of breaching party constitution.
Kwakwanso was accused of meeting with President Ahmed Tinubu and leaders of the People’s Democratic Party and Labour Party without authorization from the BoT.
Kwakwanso will remain suspended for six months.

In his acceptance speech, the new Ag. Chairman promised to reposition the party.
He promised that he will work towards getting those who left the party in the past 21 years of existence to come back.
High point of the meeting was the inauguration and administering of oath of office on the newly elected officials of the party.
