Aisha Kaita Appointed National Woman Leader of New Nigeria People’s Party
By Frank Odinukaeze
In a significant development for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), seasoned politician Barrister Hajia Aisha Ahmed Kaita has been appointed as the National Woman Leader. This appointment comes at a crucial time as the party seeks to shape the future of Nigeria.
Prince Omokkanye Adetoyese,
National Treasurer and Former Member of the National Movement (TNM),stated this in a press statement on Thursday,16 May,2024.
According to the statement,Barrister Hajia Aisha Kaita, hailing from Kano State, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Her political journey has been marked by various responsibilities and achievements:
Kaita played a pivotal role in the campaign for a presidential candidate.
Acting National Woman Leader (CPC): Her leadership skills were recognized within the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
Her commitment to women’s empowerment led to her election as a zonal leader.
Chairperson of Congress in Kaduna State (PDP): She continued her political engagement across party lines.
Her administrative acumen was evident in these roles.
National Woman Leader of TBO (Buhari Organization): Kaita served for eight years, contributing to good governance.
She also serves as President of Concerned Citizens of Nigeria. Her dedication extended beyond party lines. Unfortunately, the journey toward a “new Nigeria” faced obstacles. Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s alleged dictatorship within the party led to the exclusion of honorable politicians. Retired generals, governors, senators, technocrats, and professionals who initially joined the national movement were sidelined.
Kwankwaso’s unilateral decisions, including moving meetings to his personal residence, caused disillusionment among the original members. Allegedly, other political parties demanded exorbitant fees for entry, leaving the movement in search of a suitable platform.
In all these, the Role of Divine Assistance came to the fore.Remarkably, the remnants of the national movement found unexpected help. Led by Buba Galadima, they encountered a lifeline—assistance without cost. Now, Kwankwaso and Galadima’s Kwankwasiya movement are vying for control of the NNPP, while the original members, particularly the Founder of the party,Dr Boniface Aniebonam, rally to reclaim their vision for Nigeria.
Political observers see Kwakwanso’s efforts at changing the narrative in NNPP albeit clandestinely as an act of one building a Castle on Shifting Sand: The irony lies in Kwankwaso and Galadima’s pursuit of power. Their actions—treachery, greed, and betrayal—contrast with the party’s ideals. As they build their political castle, it stands miserably on uncertain ground, and may cave in any time soon.
In this critical juncture, all original members and patriotic politicians must unite. Together, they can redefine Nigeria’s path, working alongside the present administration. The NNPP aims not to oppose existing parties but to be a responsible partner in governance.
Ultimately, it is divine providence that determines who shall lead.Power ,indeed belongs to God.
