NCC Boss, Dr. Aminu Maida, Commends SAIL Innovation Lab’s Sacrifice for the People

The Executive Vice-Chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, paid a scheduled visit to the SAIL Innovation Lab in Ikorodu on Thursday. During his visit, Dr. Maida praised the founders, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru and his wife, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru, for their significant sacrifice and unwavering commitment to the development of the community, particularly its youth.
The SAIL Innovation Lab, an initiative of the SAIL Empowerment Foundation, has been instrumental in providing world-class training facilities and faculty free of charge. Hundreds of constituents from the Lagos East Senatorial District and beyond have benefited from the lab, securing jobs in fields such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Addressing participants in Data Science and 3MTT Product Design classes, as well as the Awarri AI program, Dr. Maida encouraged them to make the most of the unique opportunities provided. He highlighted the importance of the platform created by Senator Abiru and his wife, which allows young people to harness their potential and creativity in the digital and tech revolution.
“I am wowed! This is a huge sacrifice of time and resources for the people. I want to plead with the community to take full advantage of it. This is one great initiative they should treasure and ensure its sustainability,” Dr. Maida stated.
The SAIL Innovation Lab has previously hosted visits from eminent Nigerians and accomplished professionals, including Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, who have inspired participants to reach their full potential.
Dr. Maida’s visit underscores the importance of such initiatives in fostering innovation and development within the community, ensuring that young people are equipped with the skills needed to thrive in the modern digital economy.
