The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has extended a heartfelt congratulatory message to the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, following his historic election as the Chairman of the World Customs Organization (WCO).

In an official statement signed by its National President, High Chief Tochukwu Emmanuel Ezisi, the association described Adeniyi’s emergence as the first Nigerian to occupy the prestigious global position as a “significant victory” for Nigeria and the African continent at large.

“This unprecedented milestone is a testament to your impeccable track record of service, foresight, and the remarkable transformation you have ushered into the Nigeria Customs Service,” Ezisi stated.

NAGAFF commended CGC Adeniyi’s leadership style, which they said has been marked by transparency, innovation, and a commitment to international cooperation — qualities that align perfectly with the mission of the WCO.

“As National President and on behalf of the NAGAFF family, I hereby affirm our full and unwavering support for your administration at the global arena,” Ezisi continued. “We stand firmly beside you in your quest to reshape and reenergize customs operations globally.”

The association expressed optimism that Adeniyi’s tenure at the WCO would bring about groundbreaking reforms, deepen global customs integration, and further elevate Nigeria’s position in the realm of international trade diplomacy.

The statement concluded with warm congratulations and best wishes for a successful and impactful tenure.

CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi was recently elected during the 145th/146th Sessions of the WCO Council, held in Brussels, Belgium — marking a new chapter for Nigeria’s role in global customs administration.
