MWUN Leader Felicitates Muslims On Eid-Maulud, Calls For Love , Peaceful Coexistence

The President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has extended warm felicitations to Muslims across the world on the occasion of this year’s Eid-Maulud, which commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a goodwill message signed by the Union’s Head of Media, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, the MWUN leader lauded the resilience of Muslim faithful in Nigeria amid prevailing economic and social challenges. He commended their continued demonstration of love, charity, and tolerance towards neighbors, family members, colleagues, and adherents of other faiths, in line with the teachings of the Prophet.
Comrade Bunu emphasized that peaceful coexistence among all religions remains vital to the progress and stability of Nigeria. He reminded Nigerians that Islam is a religion of peace, stressing that violence and hatred are contrary to the injunctions of Almighty Allah.
“The society cannot be peaceful if we as brothers and sisters of all religions cannot love each other. Peace and love are major tenets of Islam. All human beings are creatures of Allah, and we must love one another because we are from the same source of life,” he said.
He further praised Muslim communities in Nigeria and beyond for their patience and tolerance, noting that such virtues are essential in addressing insecurity and fostering unity in the country.
Reflecting on the exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad, the MWUN leader urged Muslims to emulate his qualities of kindness, forgiveness, and peaceful living. He congratulated all Muslim faithful on the commemoration of the Prophet’s birthday and prayed for sustained harmony in the nation.
