MASPAN and AMANO Praise MWUN Leadership at Maritime Security Conference

The Maritime Security Providers Association of Nigeria (MASPAN) and the Alumni of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron (AMANO) have commended the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and its leadership, particularly under Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, FNLI, HFCPSP. This recognition follows the successful MASPAN_AMANO 2024 Conference on Drugs, Human Smuggling & Trafficking, which addressed evolving maritime security threats to ships and seafarers.
A press statememt on Sunday,15 September,2024,by media head of the Union Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna noted that the the conference, which focused on the critical issues of drug trafficking, human smuggling, and their impact on maritime security, saw significant contributions from MWUN. Dr. Adeyanju’s leadership was highlighted for its foresight and dedication to creating a drug-free maritime sector and combating human trafficking.
Comrade Francis Bunu, Deputy President-General of MWUN, also received accolades for his inspiring goodwill message, which boosted the morale of the participants. His unwavering support for the nation’s seafarers was particularly noted.
Dr. Adeyanju, who also serves as the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Vice President Global of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), was the Special Guest at the event. His presence underscored the importance of the conference’s objectives and the ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and human trafficking in the maritime sector.
The event concluded with MASPAN and AMANO reaffirming their steadfast support for MWUN and their commitment to the union’s initiatives. The successful conference highlighted the collaborative efforts needed to address maritime security threats and ensure the safety and well-being of seafarers.
