The National President of Customs Officers Wife Association (COWA), and also the wife of the Acting Comptroller General of Customs ,Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Mrs Kikelomo Adeniyi on Friday commissioned the Seme COWA Medical Center, amidst pomp and pageantry.
According Mrs Chinelo Dera Nnadi, the hospital was refurbished with the support of the Ag CGC who graciously supplied it with furniture, television sets, hospital equipment and drugs.
Mrs Adeniyi also flag of a medical outreach in Zango community in Seme, where a team of medical personnel led by the Zonal Medical Director Comptroller Doctor Roland Nwankwo conducted checks and administered drugs on the members of the communities.
The occasion which was well attended by the members of Seme COWA and top members of the host communities,including the out going Area controller of Seme Command, Dera Nnadi mni.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony,the president of COWA Seme Command,Mrs .Chinelo Dera Nnadi thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his choice of Mr Adewale to,” Lead the Nigeria Customs Service at this suspicious time “. she said
She noted that the appointment of Adewale is welcomed by the entire Nigerian business community, especially those in the maritime sector.
While congratulating the CGC Adewale Adeniyi for his appointment,and his support to the Cowa Seme Command,Mrs Chinelo Dera Nnadi said, ” Mr.Adeniyi is a square peg in a square hole ,who has dedicated all his life in the meritorious service of the nation as a facilitator of Customs business process. “Our President Mrs Kikelomo Adeniyi will compliment this fine gentleman. COWA President Ma, your visit is gratifying to members of this chapter. It has restored our confidence and hope of sustaining COWA as a support system of our husbands as they carry out their national assignment”.
Continuing she said,”Madam President Ma, every scene is a challenge. There are technical challenges, but often you feel a sense of achievement when you pull it off. The Customs Area Controller Seme Command, Comptroller, Dera Nnadi, mni has played a tremendous role in his determination and constant efforts to ensure we succeed as a body.
” Through his support, we were able to identify some issues and took some measures to address them. This resulted in the modest success Seme Chapter have recorded since my assumption of office Ma”.
Mrs Nnadi listed some of the achievements cowa Seme command under her watch has attained.
Some of the achievements include ,”visit to Atinuke persons challenged homes and orphanage where we donated cash, foodstuffs, beverages and medicament. Visit to Badagry General Hospital where we made donation of cash, medical equipment and also paid medical bills of some patients who, even though well, but were not discharged because of they could not pay their hospital bills.
Visit to Zango community and the neighboring towns,and offering free
medical treatments. Renovation of the Area Command Clinic
Renovation of the sentry post.The sentry and entrance gate to the barracks;
Installations of 30 solar powered street lights in the barrack,
Planting of 150 coconut trees in the ECOWAS Joint Border Post premises amongst others”.
She said ,”Achievements have no value, if you leave behind the people to celebrate with. For this reason, we thank you Madam President for donating the solar powered light which has been installed in our clinic. By this kind. gesture of yours, we now have 24 hours uninterrupted power supply at the clinic. Thank you Ma”.
Chinelo Nnadi,the out going Seme COWA command president, thanked the executive and members of COWA Seme chapter.
Her words,” When surrounded by good people, you will attain positive achievements. Without the support of the women seated here, it would have been difficult to achieve all that I listed above. We share a special bond in this chapter. I love my members. Truly my heart breaks at this moment, because this is perhaps my last outing with COWA Seme Chapter. Achievements of today are the stepping stones for the future ones. It is little keys that open up big doors. I urge my members to put in more efforts, achieve more and to support the National President to ensure COWA stand the test of time. The Comptroller General is known for his goal orientation and leadership skills, and they say behind every successful man, is a supportive wife. It is our prayer that the National President achieve all that she has set out to do for COWA in support of his husband. We thank all who had contributed in cash and kind to make today a success. We thank the CGC for the medical equipment donated to Seme clinic. For all those that came from afar we say thank you for coming. We most sincerely thank the members of delegation of the President who joined her from Abuja and those that joined from Zone A. We are grateful that you came around”.
