CP Toyin Agbaminoja Assumes Duty As Commissioner Of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command

The Ports Authority Police (Western) Command has announced the assumption of duty by Commissioner of Police (CP) Toyin Agbaminoja as the 33rd Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command, Apapa, Lagos.
CP Agbaminoja takes over from AIG Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola, psc, mnips, who was recently promoted and officially retired from active service on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
A seasoned and dedicated officer, CP Agbaminoja joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1994 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) from Course 18. She hails from Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language from the University of Ilorin.
Over the course of her distinguished career, CP Agbaminoja has served in diverse operational, investigative, and administrative roles across various police formations in Nigeria. She began her policing career at the Kwara State Police Command as Area Crime Officer, Ilorin Metropolis, before holding key positions at the IGP Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja; the Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Ikoyi; and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).
At the FCID, Ikoyi, she was seconded to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Enforcement Unit, where she led a team of police detectives in major anti-counterfeiting and regulatory enforcement operations. She later served as Officer-in-Charge of the Diplomatic Unit, SFU, Ikoyi.

CP Agbaminoja is no stranger to the maritime security environment, having previously served in various leadership roles within the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command — including as DPO, Roro Port Division; Command Traffic Officer; and Area Commander, Western Ports.
Her career is marked by several historic milestones as the first female officer to occupy key leadership positions in the Nigeria Police Force. She was the first female Area Commander, Area ‘M’ Idimu (2017); the first female Head of Zonal Criminal Investigation Department (Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos) in 2021; the first female Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Command (2023); and the first female DCP in charge of the Oyo State CID (2024).
Promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police in February 2025, Agbaminoja was appointed to head the Special Enquiry Bureau, FCID, Alagbon, Ikoyi, before her latest deployment to the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, Apapa.
In her remarks upon assumption of duty, CP Agbaminoja pledged her commitment to strengthening security within Nigeria’s maritime domain. She emphasized collaboration with stakeholders in the maritime industry to enhance operational efficiency and ensure a safe and secure port environment that supports economic growth.
The new Commissioner has attended several professional and leadership courses both locally and internationally, and she brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
She is married and blessed with children, and enjoys cooking and reading in her leisure time.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Isaac Hundeyin, anipr, confirmed the assumption of duty in a statement issued on Thursday in Apapa.
