CGC Adeniyi Urges Customs Trainees to Embrace Knowledge For National Security, Economic Integrity

The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has called on the newly inaugurated students of Junior Course 20 to leverage the knowledge and skills imparted during their training to significantly contribute to the Nigeria Customs Service’s mission of safeguarding national borders and protecting the nation’s economic integrity.

Represented by Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs Sulaiman Bomai, CGC Adeniyi addressed the students at the Ahmad Makarfi Theater of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC) in Gwagwalada on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. He emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, and continuous development, which are the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service.

“This ceremony marks a significant tradition in the history of our esteemed institution and reinforces the core values of dedication, discipline, and continuous development that have long been the pillars of the Nigeria Customs Service,” said DCG Bomai.

He highlighted the Service’s commitment to enhancing staff skills through various initiatives and urged the students to view their training as an opportunity for growth and development. DCG Bomai also stressed the need for participants to generate new ideas and innovations to drive the Service’s transformation.

“Remember that this is only the beginning. You are the future of the Nigeria Customs Service, and the knowledge you gain here will empower you to carry the torch forward. Seize this moment, make the most of this experience, and rise to the challenges ahead,” he add

CGC Adeniyi encouraged the trainees to make positive impacts and view their facilitators as role models. He urged trainers to provide guidance and support to the students in their studies and welfare issues, emphasizing the importance of acquiring knowledge to propel the Service forward.

DCG Bomai assured the trainees of the CGC’s readiness to support any officer willing to enhance their capacity, expressing confidence that the participants will make the Service proud as drivers of positive transformation.

Assistant Comptroller-General Kingsley Egwuh, Commandant of the NCCSC, also addressed the participants, highlighting the course as a critical enabler of their progression and aspirations in their careers. He encouraged them to enhance their confidence and competence in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and national security.

“The capacity program prepares participants for increasing responsibilities in Command and Staff appointments. It is designed to develop your command, leadership, and communication skills to effectively carry out your work in the Service,” said ACG Egwuh.

The event marks a significant step in the continuous development of the Nigeria Customs Service, aiming to equip its officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to safeguard the nation’s borders and economy.
