Compt.Olomu Raises Historical Revenue Bar: As Apapa Customs Command Surpasses ₦1 Trillion Revenue Mark Ahead Of Schedule

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing ₦1 trillion in revenue collection well ahead of the half-year mark, making it the first command to reach such a feat in record time.

According to figures released by the Command, a total of ₦1,002,968,178,694.07 has been generated, a landmark achievement coming more than 45 days before the Command’s mid-year report.

Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, fsi, attributed the Command’s success to the strategic guidance of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and a commitment to curbing revenue leakages. He also lauded the diligence and professionalism of Officers and personnel under his leadership since assuming office in May 2024.

“This early accomplishment is a clear indication of our commitment to surpassing last year’s revenue collection of ₦2.3 trillion before the end of 2025,” Olomu said.

He emphasized the importance of sustained effort in revenue collection, suppression of smuggling, and facilitation of lawful trade through proper cargo examination. He also urged officers to improve intelligence sharing, foster cooperation with other government agencies, and maintain robust stakeholder engagements.

Highlighting innovations under the CGC’s policy thrust, Olomu praised the implementation of the Unified Customs Management System, also known as B’Odogwu, which he said has significantly boosted operational efficiency. With the ongoing training of licensed Customs agents and freight forwarders in preparation for the full deployment of B’Odogwu, Olomu expressed confidence in the Command’s capacity to exceed expectations.

“Our award-winning reputation remains unshaken. We are intensifying efforts to maintain our excellence as the nation’s leading Customs Command,” Olomu said. “We’re grateful to our compliant stakeholders and warn that any act seeking to undermine the economy or national security will be met with full legal sanctions.”

The Apapa Command’s performance continues a trend of excellence that earned it multiple accolades in 2024, including the CGC Award of Excellence, while Comptroller Olomu was named Best Controller of the Year for his leadership and administrative impact
