In a heartfelt message marking International Women’s Day, Princess Adebowale Olabisi Teniola Anike, Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP), paid tribute to the resilience, achievements, and contributions of women across various fields.

Princess Adebowale highlighted the legacies of trailblazing Nigerian women, including the late Dora Akunyili, who made significant strides in combating the importation and sale of counterfeit drugs, saving countless lives. She also celebrated the accomplishments of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, whose exemplary leadership has earned her recognition on both national and international stages, including her role at the World Bank. The Chairman further honored the late Margaret Ekpo, a pioneering politician and women’s rights activist, and Oby Ezekwesili, known for her impactful contributions to governance and advocacy.

In her statement, Princess Adebowale emphasized the importance of women’s hard work, compassion, and resilience in shaping a better world. She called on women to continue breaking barriers and inspiring future generations, stating, “Together, we will keep pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and ensuring a brighter future for all.”

Addressing the women of the NNPP, she extended her wishes for joy, strength, and grace as they continued to steer the party toward success. The message, signed by Ruth Sunday, Publicity Secretary of the Lagos State Chapter of NNPP, concluded with a rallying call to celebrate the achievements of women and to remain steadfast in the pursuit of progress.

This year’s International Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the vital role women play in society and the ongoing need to champion gender equality and empowerment.
