Nigeria Customs Service Takes Decisive Action Against Officers Involved in Viral Maltreatment Incident

The two officers allegedly accused of Maltreatment of individuals at Seme Krake Command

In a significant move towards accountability and transparency, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has taken swift action against two officers involved in the maltreatment of individuals, as seen in a viral video.
In a media briefing held today at the Seme-Krake Border Command, Comptroller Kayode Kolade, represented by Deputy Comptroller Istifanus Musa, announced the arrest of two officers involved in the incident.

The officers, Superintendent of Customs TA Inemugha and Assistant Superintendent of Customs II GO Aboribo, have been identified and are now in custody. They will be handed over to the Customs Police Unit for further investigation. This move comes after a preliminary investigation initiated on December 2, 2024, revealed their involvement.

Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, has condemned the unethical conduct of these officers, emphasizing that their behavior does not reflect the professional standards of the NCS. He has directed that the officers be taken to the NCS Headquarters for a full-scale investigation and decisive disciplinary measures. The complainants are also requested to assist in the ongoing investigation.

The NCS remains committed to transparency and integrity in all its operations and will not tolerate any form of misconduct within its ranks. The Service continues to work in the best interest of the Nigerian public, ensuring accountability and professionalism among its officers.
