In a dramatic turn of events, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has been thrust into the spotlight following a recent Abia State High Court ruling. The court Court issued a Compelling Order transfering control of the party to the Board of Trustees (BOT), led by Dr. Boniface Aniebonam.
At a World Press Conference on Tuesday,at the NAGAFF Headquarters/NNPP Annex Office in Apapa, Lagos, Dr. Aniebonam affirmed while addressing the media, that the party has been given back to the original owners who are the leadership of NAGAFF,and the BOT,highlighting the implications of the court’s ruling and the subsequent actions of key political figures.
He criticized Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his associates, including Barrister Ladipo Johnson, for allegedly spreading misinformation about the judgement.
Dr. Aniebonam emphasized that the NNPP is now firmly under the control of its BOT, dismissing the influence of Senator Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya group, who were expelled from the party prior to the judgement.
He accused these individuals of attempting to undermine the party’s leadership for personal gain.
The press conference also shed light on the withdrawal of a case by Senator Kwankwaso and Buba Galadima from the Kano State High Court, which Dr. Aniebonam described as an attempt to embarrass him despite his previous support for their political ambitions.
Dr. Aniebonam questioned the legal competence of Barrister Johnson, asserting that the recent court order must be respected unless overturned by an appellate court. He reiterated that the NNPP’s leadership has been legally dissolved and restructured under the BOT’s guidance.
Dr Aniebonam ,highlighted the recent actions of Barrister Ladipo Johnson, representing Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Buba Galadima, which he described as contempt of court. He emphasized that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was present in court to defend itself before the ruling was pronounced, and any actions questioning the court’s integrity are unwarranted.

Dr Aniebonam advised Senator Kwankwaso and Buba Galadima to seek intervention from the appeal court if they have the legal standing, rather than making public statements that undermine the judiciary.
He posed critical questions regarding their intentions to appeal the court’s judgment and the ownership of the NNPP’s certificate of registration.
Expressing disappointment, He noted that Senator Kwankwaso, a former Minister of Defence and two-time Governor of Kano State, should uphold higher standards of conduct. He lamented the current state of Kano’s administration, which he believes has fallen short of the party’s expectations.
Dr.Aniebonam called for calm and law-abiding behavior among party members, urging them to disregard provocations from the Kwankwasiyya faction.
He announced that the Board of Trustees of the NNPP would meet on November 8, 2024, to make decisions in line with the court’s orders.
In a heartfelt appeal, the NNPP Founder and life Board member of the party, invited all elected representatives under the NNPP to come to Lagos and reaffirm their commitment to the party, emphasizing their role as the pride and face of the NNPP.
He concluded with a message of hope and unity, expressing confidence in a victorious outcome and urging respect for the rule of law.
