MWUN Honours Apapa Port Manager, Ex ED,Pledges Support For NPA MD.

The President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Prince (Dr) Adewale Adeyanju who is also the Deputy National President, Nigeria Labour Union honoured the Apapa Port Manager, Barrister (Dr) Charles Bamidele Okaga and Honourable Onari Brown, former Executive Director Marine and Operation for their exemplary conduct and performance.

The Two NPA officially where honoured for their contributions,and unalloyed support to the Labour union operations in the south-south part of the country.

The Union also pledged their support to the new Managing Director of Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) Dr Abubakar Dantsoho.

Comrade Adeyanju ,who applauded the duo noted that the union has been reformed, stressing that members of the union are no longer Agberos

He maintained that the union will continue to reform its members from time to time .

Adeyanju therefore charged Dr Dantsoho, the new NPA Managing Director to listen to the voice of reason,while shunning sycophants and saboteurs.

According to the President General, “MWUN under my leadership is ready to support any reform with a human face in port development and Operation.”

Adeyanju said that MWUN commended Honourable Onari Brown and Barrister Bamidele Okaga for having the interest of the union at heart. However, He said that Barrister Okaga is a technocrat who is versed in port operations.
” He is a Man of Peace. He has always been supporting the union.”Adeyanju said.

“Honourable Onari has been a great man while in office. He is a wonderful leader who has been assisting the union in many ways over the period. We are not praise singers, we also don’t worship employers but we worship those that recognize the union virtues and are workers- friendly. Onari had been very supportive since the beginning of this union. So far, He is the second Executive Director who has visited the union over the period.”Adeyanju noted.

He therefore admonished the bad managers in the Authority to learn from good people like Onari and Okaga.
Barrister okaga while reaching to the honour bestowed on him by the maritime Labour Union ,commended MWUN for their warm reception,and noted that the hosting is overwhelming and beyond his wildest dreams because the recognition was never solicited for and never expected it neither.

Okaga therefore, described Comrade Adeyanju as a President General who is effective and very productive. According to him, “MWUN is synonymous with NPA. It sees dock Labour work as a work that does not stop at the dock. It is moving in line with the movement of the Nigeria Economic Frontier outside of the immediate board. The Union has been working consistently with the Authority to promote progress in the maritime Labour sector.
Okaga also described Hon. Onari Brown as an up right man.
“I believe that Onari is prepared for higher responsibilities

” Brown Had taught many people that the position you in should not separate anyone from his root”he said.

However, Hon. Onari Brown commended Comrade Adeyanju and all members of the union for their support while he was in office.

Onari noted was surprised on the honour accorded him by the union. According to him, after seven months of leaving office, the union deemed him fit for the honour is a great surprise.

“Adeyanju is a man of integrity. I urge the union to work with his successor and support him the very way he supported me while in service,” he said
