In a show of concern for the well being and development  of the people of his constituency,Senator Dr Osita Bonaventure Izunaso, representing Imo West Senatorial District( Orlu), and chairman,Senate committee on Capital Market and other financial Institutions,has given tertiary scholarships to 200 Orlu  students.
Senator Izunaso revealed this at the Banquet  organised by Eminent Senators Club of Nigeria in Lagos on Saturday ,8 June ,2024,to honour him and to also appreciate  his contributions to democracy and development of Imo State.
Senator Izunaso ,While Launching the program in Owerri Imo State,on Saturday ,8 June,2024, from where he flew into Lagos , via Abuja,as there was no direct flight to Lagos from Owerri,stated he decided to embark on the scholarship award because he wanted to encourage and help in the education of the students from the senatorial zone.
He said  he has also reserved 20 scholarships for members of the Eminent Senators Club,all in an effort to build human capital development.
Senato  Izunaso  noted that the agitation for creation of additional states in Nigeria is currently receiving attention at the National Assembly,and subsequently revealed that a Bill for the creation of Orlu State has passed a second reading at the senate
He said,” Igbos want one additional State to be created from the South East .And if we are doing that ,Orlu State is quite suitable for that.So ,we have a consensus in agitating for state creation.”
Senator Izunaso argued that the agitation for creation of additional states in Nigeria supersedes any other agitation ,adding that the Bill for the creation of Orlu State has passed a second reading at the National Assembly .

Speaking  further at the Banquet organised by Eminent Senators Club of Nigeria,in his honour, Senator Izunaso,who’s the special Guest of honour and chairman,Senate Committee on Capital Market and financial Institutions,noted the  importance of the capital Market.
He  told a story of how an Igbo business man who  had no idea about Shares or the capital Market,made huge profits  by investing in the capital Market,and used the story to iilistrate and define what capital Market means,and it’s attendant benefits are.
According to him ,he asked the successful Igbo business man ,what he understood by the capital Market,and the man said,” I don’t know anything about the capital Market or shares,the only thing I know is that some people asked me  to invest money in shares and asked me to invest N100,000,000.00(One hundred Million Naira) and I gave them the money,and in the next 6 months ,they gave 200,000,000.00( Two hundred Million)”.
Dr Izunaso ,said the story clearly illustrates or defines the meaning of capital Market

He said business men and women should take advantage of the capital Market,and stop running up and down, looking for money when money is there waiting for them to grab it.
His words,” Dangote is who he is today because of capital Market.BUA is who he is today because of capital Market.Mr.Elumelu is who he is today because of capital Market”.
He said the job of the senate committee on Capital Market is to enlighten people on what to do.He therefore advised Igbo business men and women to invest in the capital Market because of its huge benefis,which he noted are enormous
” How can you call yourself a business man when you don’t know anything about the capital Market,and you are not investing in the capital Market?” he told the gathering.
He hinted that new owners of Banks will emerge in the next couple of months ,and urged them  to take advantage of that and invest in those banks.

On his being honoured by the Eminent Senators Club of Nigeria,Dr Izunaso,who is also a founding member of the Club ,said he is happy that his people in Lagos have decided to honour him based  on his activities in his constituency.
” I am happy that my people in Lagos  have decided to honour me because they believe we are doing exactly what they asked us to do.So this will spur us to do better, particularly when we have a listening president on the person of Senator Bola Ahmed  Tinubu,who is working very well with the National Assembly to ensure that the dividends of democracy,get to the people.”Dr Izunaso said.
He affirmed that the president has consistently worked with the National Assembly, adding that,” There’s no advice we have given him that he did not take.And  that is the quality of the president you people didn’t know about.Somebody asked me sometimes,’why are you people not confronting President Bola Tinubu?.’And I asked him if we were  elected to confront any body?We were  elected to have comradeship and work together ,and that’s what we are doing “he said.

Earlier,the chairman of the Eminent Senators Club of Nigeria,Chief Amb.Dr.Monday NC Akunana,in his welcome address affirmed  that the club  stand united in purpose and shared commitment to excellence,adding that both new and old members are welcome to the event.
He informed that the  Eminent Senators Club was established on the 17th of October, 2022 at the peak of the national election campaign and thus marked the beginning of a noble journey.
“It was on this day that distinguished Senator Osita Bonaventure Izunaso, visited my residence in Greenfield Estate to seek support in various capacities. I invited many of my friends to come welcome him. His visions and dedication have been instrumental in shaping the ethos of this country as evidenced in his subsequent victory. He has fostered a community of leaders committed to public service, collaboration, and excellence ” the chairman said.

In an interview with the media,a humble and amiable Senate Committee Chairman on Banking, Insurance,and other Financial Institutions,Senator,and Chairman  of the event,Mukail Adetokunbo Abiru,representing Lagos East Senatorial Zone ,sad he came to honour his friend and colleague at the National Assembly, Senator Osita Izunaso,who is being celebrated today by Eminent Senators Club of Nigeria.
He said Senator Izunaso is one of his colleagues he respects so much,based on his knowledge,his standing in the country,and his understanding of the culture, particularly when you look at the new national anthem  that has been raised.
” I found in him somebody with sense of cohesion ,sense of unity ,and somebody who understands Nigeria very well and who is interested in the development of the country.Someone who is patriotic I describe him as a patriotic  Nigerian;someone I have high respect for”.Senator Abiru said.
He expressed gratitude to the Club for honouring his friend and colleague.
Speaking  on unity in the  Club , Senator Abiru who is impressed with what he had seen of the club remarked,” I like their sense of togetherness,,I like their sense of purpose,I like the sense of community that they are trying to bring together” .
Also speaking in an interview ,the Secretary of the club ,chief Afam Chukwuma,said the club was established not purely as a social club but as a socio political club that not only ensures the protection of their businesses , but also  contributes to the political process of the country .
Chief Afam ,who is also one of the founding members of the club, stated that the club is doing its best to  bring prominent people from all walks of life to see  how we can  further shape the club   and expand the business aspect of  Nigeria,and how it can benefit us.
He said the theme of the program: “Nigeria Business opportunities And the Capital Market;Reality of Factors Militating Against the Ideal Intentions” was specifically crafted  to look into the capital Market ,and “ways we can benefit from the market.’ he said.
” We are not just a social club but a socio-political club ,not necessarily contesting for elections ,but influencing policies to better our businesses “chief Afam said.

High point of the occasion was the induction and presentation of certificates to new members of the club,even as Senator Izunaso’s beautiful daughter celebrated her birthday on that day,with the house wishing her many happy returns and more years ahead
The event which attracted eminent personalities from all walks of life ,had two serving Senators in attendance;Senator Adetokunbo Abiru representing Lagos East Senatorial District,and Chairman Senate

Committee on Banking, Insurance and other financial Institutions,Dr Osita Izunaso,the celebrant, and one former Senator, Senator Musliu Obanikoro.
Other guests who graced the occasion include,former Publicity Secretary APC ,Lagos Engr.Joe Igbokwe,Director General, Security and Exchange Commission,Mr Emomotimi John Agana,His Royal Majesty,Igwe Kingsley Chukwuma (Eze Ndigbo India),and co -founder,of the club, amongst other distinguished dignitaries who graced the august occasion.
