Airport Customs Command Makes Impressive  Achievements In Revenue Generation, Anti-Smuggling Activities In Six Month

Rakes in in N38.7bn, representing79.6% of the annual revenue target met

The Nigeria Customs Service NCS,Airport Customs Command,ably headed by
Customs Area Controller, COMPT.MS Yusuf,  has continued to achieve significant milestones, surpassing previous records in both revenue generation and anti-smuggling efforts.
Since assuming office, COMPT.MS Yusuf has been steadfast in implementing standard best practices, thereby facilitating trade and enhancing the ease of doing business, resulting in a remarkable increase in revenue generation.

During the period of January to June 2023, the Murtala Muhammed Airport Command successfully generated a total of Thirty-eight Billion, Seven Hundred and Seven Million, Fifty-four Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixteen Naira, Forty-four Kobo (N38,707,054,216.44), representing an impressive 79.6% of the annual revenue target met.
This stands in contrast to the figures from the same period in 2022, where the revenue generated was Thirty-four Billion, Eight Hundred and Fifty-four Million, Four Hundred and Eight Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty Naira, Ninety Kobo (N34,854,408,350.90), signifying a notable 11% increase.
This outstanding achievement underscores the efficient and productive management of the command.
Additionally, the Murtala Muhammed Airport Command demonstrated commendable success in anti-smuggling operations during the first half of 2023.
The Enforcement Unit of the Command worked in collaboration with other key stakeholders to conduct several anti-smuggling activities, leading to the seizure of fifteen (15) consignments of Tramadol, Dried Shark Fins, and Live Turtle, with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of Twenty-seven Billion, Seven Hundred and Fifty-eight Million, Thirteen Thousand, Nine Hundred, and Ninety-three Naira, Forty-seven Kobo (N27,758,013,993.47k).

It’s noteworthy that Shark Fin and Live Turtle fall under the classification of endangered species, emphasizing the command’s commitment to protect the environment and combat illegal wildlife trafficking.
In the spirit of inter-departmental cooperation, the Command has handed over the confiscated Tramadol packages to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), exemplifying a united effort in tackling smuggling and illicit drug trade.
The Customs Area Controller, COMPT.MS Yusuf, expressed gratitude for the unwavering cooperation of all stakeholders in achieving these outstanding results.
He reassured the public and business community of the command’s determination to sustain and improve upon its revenue generation in the second half of 2023.
The Area Comptroller also highlighted the importance of continuous inter-agency collaboration to combat smuggling and ensure a secure and prosperous business environment at Murtala Muhammed Airport.
