MWUN Inaugurates ABTML Dockworkers’ Unit In Apapa

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has formally inaugurated a new Dockworkers’ unit under the Apapa Bulk Terminal Limited (ABTML) in Lagos.

The inauguration, which held at the Union’s National Secretariat, 119 Osho Drive, Olodi-Apapa, was attended by leaders of MWUN alongside members of the Seafarers’ branch who came in solidarity with their dockworker colleagues.

During the event, executives of the newly constituted ABTML unit were sworn in. They include Comrade Adebayo Ayodele as Chairman, Comrade Chibuzor Uruakpa as Vice Chairman, and Comrade Ganiyu Olumuyiwa as Secretary. Others are Comrade Sunday John (Assistant Secretary), Comrade Samuel O. Bassey (Treasurer), Comrade Destiny Oliseh (Organizing Secretary), Comrade Chigozie Nwabani (Assistant Organizing Secretary), and Comrade Chukwudi Obialor as Ex-officio.
In his address, the Union’s leadership charged the executives to be of good conduct both at work and beyond, stressing that their behavior reflects not only on them individually but also on the image of the Union.
They were further urged to demonstrate commitment and diligence in discharging their responsibilities.
MWUN congratulated the new officers, while reminding them that the integrity and reputation of the Union must be protected at all times.
Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna Head of Media of the Union stated in a statement that the inauguration marks another milestone in the Union’s efforts to strengthen its structures across Nigeria’s maritime industry.
