Adenuga Assumes Duty At Seme Command,As ACG Oramalugo Bows Out In Style

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, has witnessed a smooth transition of leadership as Comptroller Wale Adenuga formally assumed duty as the new Customs Area Controller (CAC) at the ECOWAS Joint Border Post, Seme-Krake, on Monday.
The ceremony, which drew senior officers from sister security agencies, trade and transport stakeholders, traditional rulers, and members of the media, marked the official handover from outgoing Controller, ACG Ben Oramalugo,PhD, who has been elevated to a higher position.

In his inaugural address, Comptroller Adenuga pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor with trade facilitation as his central focus.
“Trade facilitation is my keyword,” he said. “When stakeholders make proper declarations, their consignments will leave Customs control within the shortest possible time. The more we facilitate trade, the more revenue we generate and the less smuggling we have.”
He promised stronger collaboration with other security agencies, including the Nigeria Police, DSS, Immigration, NDLEA, NAFDAC and the military, to combat cross-border crimes while creating an enabling environment for legitimate business. Adenuga also assured traditional rulers, youth leaders and the media of an open-door policy, stressing discipline and professionalism among officers under his watch.
The new CAC acknowledged the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi MFR, who doubles as President of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council, and vowed to deliver results that would make the Service proud.
In his farewell remarks, ACG Oramalugo PhD, described his tenure at Seme as one of “mixed emotions,” citing improved revenue collection, enhanced trade facilitation, strengthened inter-agency synergy, and landmark seizures of prohibited goods as key milestones. He thanked his officers for their loyalty and urged stakeholders to give his successor “even greater support.”

Goodwill messages were delivered by representatives of sister agencies and stakeholders, including Immigration, the Nigeria Shippers’ Council, NDLEA and FRSC, all of whom pledged continued cooperation with the Command.
According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command ,Chief Superintendent of Customs ,Isah Sulaiman,the event ended with a collective commitment from stakeholders to support the new leadership in boosting revenue, curbing smuggling, enhancing border security and making Seme a model of trade facilitation in the sub-region.
