Customs Comptroller Shuaibu Visits Ogun State Leaders To Strengthen Border Security , Economic Growth

Comptroller Mohammed Salisu Shuaibu, the Customs Area Controller for the Ogun I Area Command, recently undertook a significant visit to prominent traditional rulers and security agencies in Ogun State. This strategic tour aimed to boost economic growth and bolster security along Nigeria’s borders with the Republic of Benin.

Among the distinguished traditional leaders Comptroller Shuaibu met were His Royal Majesty Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo CFR, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Olu of Owode Oba Rev. MS Akindele JP, and Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland. Expressing gratitude for their support, Shuaibu highlighted the essential role traditional rulers play in fostering peace and security within their communities. He emphasized the importance of collaborating with these long-standing institutions to combat smuggling and secure Nigeria’s borders.

In addition, Comptroller Shuaibu engaged in productive discussions with sister security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), and the Department of State Security Services (DSS). These meetings underscored the need for strong inter-agency cooperation to tackle cross-border crimes and safeguard national security.

The strategic importance of Ogun State’s borders, a key point of trade and economic activity, was a focal point of the visit. Comptroller Shuaibu reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to utilizing innovative strategies and intelligence-sharing to fight smuggling and promote economic stability.

Speaking on the outcomes of the visit, Comptroller Shuaibu expressed optimism about the strengthened relationships between the Customs Service, traditional leaders, and security agencies. He called for continued collaboration and dedication to addressing shared challenges, vowing that Ogun I Area Command would remain resolute in safeguarding the nation’s interests.
