Veteran Maritime Strategist Chief Sir, Patrick Ogbo Beluonwu Charts New Course In Logistics, Government Contracting

After more than two decades of shaping Nigeria’s maritime and logistics sectors, Chief  Patrick Ogbo Beluonwu, a retired senior officer of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), is now making waves in the private sector as a leading government contractor and logistics expert.

With a career spanning over 30 years, Chief Beluonwu has distinguished himself in areas ranging from port administration and procurement to public-private partnerships (PPP) and strategic planning. Having retired in 2020 as the Manager of Public-Private Partnerships at the NPA, he has since transitioned into a prominent leadership role within multiple private firms.

Currently serving as Chairman/CEO of POONMEB Logistics Services Ltd and POONMEB Maritime Consultancy Services Ltd, as well as Executive Director of Operations at Munitalp Unique Project International Ltd, Chief Beluonwu oversees multi-million naira contracts across Nigeria’s infrastructure, transport, and maritime landscapes. His leadership in project bidding, PPP facilitation, and logistics consultancy has made him a sought-after expert among government agencies and private sector partners alike.

During his tenure at the Nigerian Ports Authority, Chief Beluonwu held key roles including Manager of Procurement and Assistant Manager for Commercial Operations at the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) terminal in Onne. He played pivotal roles in committees that shaped national port reforms, including the NPA-NNPC Account Reconciliation Committee and the Truck Transit Park Development Committee. His contributions to the modernization of Nigeria’s port systems earned him widespread recognition.

In addition to his executive roles, Chief Sir, Patrick Ogbo Beluonwu is committed to knowledge sharing. He serves as a part-time lecturer at NAGAFF Academy, an affiliate of the University of Lagos, where he teaches logistics, transport management, and project supervision.
It is noteworthy to state
that Chief Beluonwu pioneered and chaired NAGAFF technical committee to ensure that Dala Inland port and other Inland Container Depots ICDs were licensed as port of origin and destination , the process is on going with the appropriate authorities concerned

His academic background is equally robust, with a Master’s degree in International Logistics from the University of Plymouth, UK, a PGD in Marketing from FUTO, and multiple qualifications in education and administration. His professional affiliations include memberships with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS), and international supply chain bodies.
Having acquired knowledge through course programmes ( NPA and self sponsored) at Europe , Asia, and Nigeria in logistics, transport and port development, chief Beluonwu  has developed many international best practice and approach based on our peculiarity, and conceptualised many concepts for port and logistics in in Nigeria and west African subregion
Chief Beluonwu’s consultancy portfolio features collaborations with notable firms such as Ocean Magnet Oil & Gas Ltd, Silver Gold Logistics Ltd, NAGAFF, and Ocean Star Shipping Limited,amongst others.

Even in retirement, Chief Beluonwu remains a driving force in Nigeria’s logistics and infrastructure sectors. Known for his strategic insight, operational acumen, and commitment to institutional growth, he continues to influence public-private synergy, empower upcoming professionals, and advocate for sustainable development across the maritime and transport industries.
