Tincan Island Container Terminal Enhances Education In Apapa With Solidarity Initiative

In a bid to boost educational standards in Nigeria, Tincan Island Container Terminal (TICT) has completed a significant infrastructure upgrade at Randle Secondary School in Apapa, Lagos.
This initiative, according to a statement today ,by Philips Ojo, Corporate Communications,TICT, part of TICT’s commitment to solidarity, aims to create a more engaging and impactful learning environment for both students and staff.
The project includes the renovation of 14 washrooms and the modernization of the school’s ICT room, which now features 10 high-tech computers, 2 UPSs, 1 printer, and other essential equipment. These upgrades will enable students to acquire foundational computer skills crucial in today’s digital world.

This initiative coincided with Solidarity Day, a global event organized by Africa Global Logistics, TICT’s parent company, to strengthen ties with local communities. “The theme of this year’s Day of Solidarity celebration is ‘Education’. We conducted a first-hand evaluation of different high schools in Apapa to make an impactful donation,” said Etienne Rocher, Country Managing Director of AGL. “Students at Randle Secondary School will now have quality exposure to the fundamentals of ICT and the opportunity to develop their computer skills.”
In addition to educational improvements, TICT is also enhancing the school’s waste management system by providing 8 new bins, contributing to a clean and healthy environment essential for student well-being.

Mr. Akinboyowa Peter, the school’s principal, expressed his gratitude for the initiative, noting its positive impact on the school community. Honourable Tosan Wiltshire, representing the Apapa Local Government, praised TICT’s commitment to creating a conducive learning environment and encouraged other businesses to follow suit. “We urge other business organizations to emulate this gesture to make learning interesting for our students at Apapa,” Wiltshire said.
