Remarkable Achievement:Nigeria Customs Service Launches First PAAR Under B’Odogwu Trade Management System

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reached a remarkable milestone by issuing its first Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) under the newly developed B’Odogwu Unified Customs Management System. This breakthrough signifies the Service’s ongoing dedication to modernizing trade processes through technology-driven reforms.
In a strategic move, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, recently held a pivotal meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso. Both leaders emphasized the importance of seamless trade procedures, improved revenue collection, and streamlined financial integration, laying the groundwork for the success of the B’Odogwu system.
Replacing the Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System (NICIS II), the B’Odogwu platform represents a significant upgrade designed to enhance efficiency in trade documentation, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and modernize Customs operations. The system underwent a pilot phase at the Port and Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Customs Area Command, engaging stakeholders, including various government agencies, to ensure a smooth transition.
The issuance of the first PAAR under B’Odogwu marks the beginning of a nationwide rollout aimed at simplifying customs procedures and boosting trade facilitation. The NCS is working diligently to finalize necessary approvals and integrations with financial institutions, including Authorized Dealer Banks (ADBs), to facilitate smooth foreign exchange transactions and trade payments.
Under the leadership of Comptroller-General Adeniyi and his management team, the NCS acknowledges the support from stakeholders and urges the trading community to adopt the B’Odogwu platform for a more transparent, efficient, and technology-driven customs experience.
This development is a significant step toward achieving Nigeria’s trade modernization goals, ensuring the nation remains a key player in the global trade landscape.
