Powerful Pen Media Chapel Unveils Plans For 2025 Press Week

The Powerful Pen Media Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced plans for its 2025 Press Week, scheduled to hold on Wednesday, August 27, and Thursday, August 28, at No. 19 Calcutta Crescent, Apapa, Lagos.

The two-day programme, themed “The Role of the Media in National Development,” is designed to highlight the significance of developmental journalism, responsible reportage, and the link between media practice and national security.

According to a statement signed by the Chapel’s Chairperson, Udeme Clement, reputable stakeholders in the maritime industry will deliver presentations on topical issues, including port operations and the adoption of technology to enhance efficiency and seamless trade facilitation.

“As maritime journalists, the programme will afford us an opportunity to critically assess the activities of agencies operating within the port corridors, particularly on traffic management along access roads,” Clement stated.

The first day of the event (August 27) will be strictly reserved for Chapel members’ arrival, registration, and an internal review session to evaluate progress made since inception. The second day (August 28) will be open to invited guests and the public from 11:00 a.m., featuring paper presentations, poetry recitations, a singing competition, and other side attractions.

The Chairperson appealed to stakeholders in the industry to support the initiative, stressing that the media and the maritime sector must continue to work together to promote national growth and development.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us. Let us work as a team to build our great nation,” she said.

The event is being powered by the Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN).
