In a recent press statement, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) addressed critical developments within its ranks, emphasizing its commitment to transparency, integrity, and democratic values. The statement, comes in response to the resignation of Alhaji Abba Kawu from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), marking a pivotal moment in the party’s quest for internal coherence and ethical conduct.Key points highlighted in the statement include the NNPP’s disavowal of Dr. Ajuji Ahmed’s purported membership in the party, dismissing any congress or convention organized by Senator Kwankwaso and his allies as lacking legitimacy and constitutional adherence.
The party attributed Senator Kwankwaso’s defeat in the presidential race to greed and arrogance, emphasizing the importance of democratic principles in leadership selection processes.
Furthermore, the NNPP expressed gratitude for divine intervention in averting potential harm to the nation, citing the exposure and subsequent expulsion of individuals like Senator Kwankwaso and Buba Galadima, whose motives were deemed treacherous.
The party underscored its firm stance against impunity and greed, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the party’s integrity and national interests. The statement also shed light on the plight of Mr. Philip Oyinu Haruna, who played a significant role in Senator Kwankwaso’s presidential candidacy.
The NNPP denounced the oppression faced by dedicated individuals like Haruna and expressed solidarity with those unjustly treated.Regarding recent appointments and internal party dynamics, the NNPP labeled Dr. Ajuji Ahmed’s purported role as acting national chairman as illegitimate, given his association with the disbanded NWC expelled in 2023. Legal actions were announced to challenge any unauthorized activities orchestrated by Senator Kwankwaso’s faction, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) urged to refrain from engaging with this illegal group pending court rulings.
The Party reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy and constitutional provisions, welcoming INEC’s scrutiny as a means to ensure transparency and accountability within political parties. As preparations for the 2027 elections unfold, the party asserted its resolve to uphold democratic values and protect public funds from mismanagement.
The NNPP reiterated its dedication to reclaiming its integrity and thwarting attempts by opportunistic individuals to hijack the party for personal gain. The party’s legacy of principled governance and service to the Nigerian people remains steadfast, guided by a vision of progress and prosperity for all.The press statement was issued by Alhaji Abdulkareem, the National Publicity Secretary of the NNPP, from the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
