APAPA CUSTOMS BOSS, COMPTROLLER BABATUNDE OLOMU, TO VISIT NAGAFF HEADQUARTERS JULY 1

In a strategic move to foster stronger collaboration and promote industrial harmony within the port environment, the Comptroller of the Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, PhD, is scheduled to visit the headquarters of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
The visit, which forms part of the Nigeria Customs Service’s broader efforts under the leadership of Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and his management team, is aimed at strengthening partnerships with critical stakeholders in the maritime and freight forwarding sector.
According to a statement signed by Fwdr. Godfrey Emeka Nwosu, Secretary General of NAGAFF, the event is expected to create a platform for dialogue between Customs leadership at the premier port and members of NAGAFF, particularly young freight forwarders, national executive officers, board members, and media representatives.
“The ongoing Customs modernization programme is designed to make Nigeria’s ports and borders more efficient, competitive, revenue-driven, and trade-friendly,” the statement read. “It also seeks to reduce smuggling, promote e-commerce integration, and enhance ease of doing business in line with global best practices.”
Comptroller Olomu’s visit is also seen as a continuation of efforts by strategic officers of the Service to translate the CGC’s reform agenda into tangible action at the command level.
All invited stakeholders are advised to be seated by 12 noon for the interactive session, which is expected to address concerns within the freight forwarding industry and discuss ways to foster cooperation for enhanced trade facilitation.
The visit underscores the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to inclusive dialogue and sustainable stakeholder engagement in the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s port operations.
