Adeyanju Hails Avoseh, Ajayi On MWUN Election Victories, Commends Orderly Conduct

The Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Global Chairman of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, has congratulated Comrades Sunday Avoseh and Alex Bamidele Ajayi on their recent victories at the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) elections.
Comrade Avoseh was returned unopposed as Chairman of the Seamen Branch of MWUN during the branch’s peaceful election held in Warri, Delta State. Similarly, Comrade Ajayi emerged unopposed as the new Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Branch of the Union in a recently concluded exercise in Lagos.
Dr. Adeyanju, who is also the former President-General of MWUN, commended the seamless nature of both elections, describing them as a testament to the maturity and democratic ethos within the union. He particularly praised the leadership of Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, the current President-General of MWUN, for the strategic planning, choice of venues, and smooth coordination of the electoral processes across the Union’s four branches.
“Comrade Abi has demonstrated exceptional leadership, ensuring that the elections were timely, peaceful, and transparent. His dedication continues to elevate the image of the union,” Adeyanju stated.
The labour leader also applauded the outgoing Chairman of the NPA Branch, Comrade Mazeli Edward Ifeanyi, for his dedication and resilience throughout his eight-year tenure, lauding the dignified manner in which he handed over leadership to his successor.
In his message to the newly elected and re-elected executives, Adeyanju urged them to remain committed to their responsibilities, work collaboratively with their respective presidents, and contribute actively to the advancement of their branches and the broader objectives of MWUN.
He further extended appreciation to all the delegates for the orderly and disciplined conduct displayed throughout the electoral process, describing it as a reflection of the Union’s unity and organizational strength.
