Guard Time Information Appoints Barrister Alice Wowuota Iwara as Head of Women and Children Affairs, Abuja

The Chairman of Guard Time Information and Human Rights Activists Nationwide, Mr. Bibi Oduku, has officially appointed Barrister Alice Wowuota Iwara as the Head of Women and Children Affairs for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

In announcing the appointment, Mr. Oduku commended Barrister Iwara’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of women and children, describing her as a passionate advocate for empowerment and human rights. He expressed confidence that her leadership would advance critical initiatives aimed at safeguarding vulnerable groups across Abuja and its environs.

Responding to the appointment, Barrister Iwara expressed gratitude and pledged to work tirelessly in her new capacity.

“I am deeply honoured and humbled by this appointment. I am passionate about protecting the rights and advancing the well-being of women and children, and I intend to use this office as a platform to drive meaningful transformation,” she said.

She outlined her key priorities, which include advocacy against rape, domestic violence, and child abuse; establishment of support programmes for survivors; and empowerment initiatives to promote women’s economic independence.

Barrister Iwara also emphasized collaboration with law enforcement, relevant agencies, and civil society organizations to ensure justice for victims and the creation of safe spaces for women and children.

> “My focus will be on promoting policies, initiatives, and interventions that safeguard the interests of women and children while ensuring their voices are heard and their rights fully protected,” she added.

The newly appointed Head assured stakeholders of her commitment to serve with diligence, integrity, and dedication, noting that her ultimate goal is to positively impact the lives of women and children within the FCT and beyond.
