MWUN INAUGURATES CRFFN Union Executives Into Shipping Branch
………..Urges them to study the MWUN Constitution for total integration

It was a momentous home coming for the workers of Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria ,( CRFFN),when the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria MWUN,inaugurated the Executives of the CRFFN,into the Shipping Branch of the Union,on Friday,12 ,April,2024,at the Unions Headquarters in Lagos.

President General of MWUN Comrade Adewale Adeyanju who inaugurated the pioneer executives of the latest addition to the MWUN family,enjoined them to see themselves as members of the Union urging them to study the constitution establishing the MWUN for better understanding of how things are done in the Union.


Speaking further Dr (Prince) Adewale Adeyanju,fnli, described the august event as”a new dawn in the life of the Union”, adding that he is happy that today, the Journey of aligning MWUN to CRFFN workers which he noted started 6- 7 Months ago, has finally materialised.
The amiable MWUN president, expressed appreciation to the President, Shipping Branch,Comrade Ekpeyong Ekpeyong,for the role he played in making today’s event a reality. Adeyanju affirmed that the new members of the union would be moved to the Shipping branch.

” Where they are coming from maybe different, there is need for the shipping Branch to learn from their experiences, as they must also learn from us.” Adeyanju said.

Adeyanju opined that this marriage today between the CRFFN and the MWUN would offer the Ag. Registrar of CRFFN the needed support to achieve set goals,while equally noting that this opportunity will also boost MWUN’s activities with the CRFFN.
He assured that MWUN’s doors are open to new entrants,as the foremost Union is continuously expanding its coast and this is because the union is doing the right thing.


” We urge you to align with the principles of MWUN, this is what binds us together.” he said.
According to him,MWUN has evolved to become what he called ” Scientific Union’ contrary to what it used to be before now ,and this explains why the union has made so much progress ove time.
While thanking the CRFFN workers for joining the Union, Adeyanju promised that he woul bend the rules of the union by allowing the new executives of CRFFN union to operate as a unit for 3 months ,and there after they will transmute to district.
Speaking earlier at the event, the AG. Registrar of CRFFN, Dr (Mrs) Chinyere Uromta, who was represented by the Principal Administration, Mrs Elizabeth Ifezue said CRFFN workers stand to benefit enormously from their association with MWUN, even as the Union ensures protection of Workers’ rights. Mrs Uromta on behalf of CRFFN pledged to work assiduously with MWUN to improve on members welfare.
She assured that the agency will give necessary support to the union to ensure that things get better
On his part, the President Shipping Branch, Clearing and Forwarding Branch, Comrade. Ekpeyong Ekpeyong noted that the CRFFN workers have traced their way back to their Roots which is the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN). He said the Union’s leadership has also carefully looked at a suitable place to accommodate the new unit and have therefore placed them under the Shipping, Clearing and Forwarding Branch, where they are expected to find their bearing.

In his acceptance speech,the chairman of the CRFFN union Executive,Comrade Nwachukwu Okechukwu,thanked the Almighty God ,and Prince Adewale Adeyanju for making this day a success.
He showered praise on Adeyanju,adding that during the process for the migration from the Federal Ministry of Transportation to the present place they are now,the President General has been very supportive.He also thanked other officials of MWUN: Comrade Tonye Harry, Deputy President,comrade Oniha, amongst others.


He specifically requested that the welfare of his members and the development of their agency should be looked into by the Union,even as he assured that he and the other members of the Exco,would ensure that the union moves forward.
