The immediate past President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, has felicitated with the incumbent President-General of the Union, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a worthy successor and an exemplary leader.
In a goodwill message issued on Wednesday, Adeyanju praised Comrade Bunu for his commitment, discipline, and purposeful leadership since assuming office. He noted that the MWUN under Bunu has continued on a path of stability and progress, crediting the incumbent PG for sustaining the values and vision of the Union.
According to Adeyanju, Comrade Bunu has demonstrated the qualities needed to lead a vibrant and complex organization like MWUN. He described him as “agile, pragmatic, and committed to the welfare of workers,” adding that he remains proud of Bunu’s stewardship without regrets or disappointment.
“The Ijaw-born labour warrior, fierce activist, astute maritime administrator, and veteran sailor has proven himself a good successor,” Adeyanju said. “I am gladly celebrating him today without limits or bounds.”
Although unavoidably absent due to official engagements outside Lagos, Adeyanju expressed that his thoughts were with the celebrant on his special day. He prayed for God’s continued blessings, protection, and wisdom upon Comrade Bunu, wishing him good health and long life.
“As you celebrate your day, may it be filled with happiness, grace, kindness, love, and thanksgiving,” he said. “May your reign in the Union continue to be a story of success. God bless you and your homefront.”
He concluded his message with a warm birthday cheer: “Hip, Hip, Hip, Hurray!”
